Instituto Borsellino - Ajello
Our institute, Instituto Borsellino – Ajello, has a multi-ethnic composition and feels it is a duty to integrate into an international, intercultural, and global dimension, this means that managers and teachers trigger a transformation process to adapt the school to function in an international context, with cooperation transnational.
We think that internationalization is not an end in itself, but a means to achieve the fundamental objectives of an institution, namely to prepare European citizens for the future.
We do not want to limit ourselves to the implementation of international activities, but also involve the school in its organizational system.
In fact, we think that the opening process starts from an atmosphere within the educational institution that promotes international and intercultural understanding, up to participation in European and international projects.
Mazara is a bridge city in the Mediterranean, due to the historical and social context of our city, which has always been a crossroads of cultures, for both historical and geographical reasons. Our school operates, in fact, in a “naturally” international context, in the area of Mazara del Vallo, where many immigrants reside, mostly from North Africa.
In our institute there are also many children with special educational needs, and in some cases even very serious ones, for decades we have been dealing with constructive coexistence within the various classes.
In recent years our classes have been enriched with various technological equipment which have allowed greater use of innovative teaching methods.
Our school has an Erasmus accreditation and has participated in numerous European projects over the years: “WTMemory”, “Developing European Values”, “Step by Step” “The Value of Games”.
